There’s more to water features than just their looks. The sound of running water can transform a space, too.

The joys of outdoor living

Good Earth Water Gardens recently worked with homeowners who love, love, love to be outside. Whether it’s vegetable gardening, landscaping, or just enjoying a cup of coffee on the deck, these folks know outdoors is where it’s at.

These homeowners recently had a stamped concrete patio installed below their deck. But this new outdoor living space wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Instead of offering a peaceful area for relaxation, the patio was a prime spot for listening to the highway.

Water features to the rescue

After doing some research, the homeowners discovered that the sound of running water was an ideal way to obscure the sounds of traffic. But with so many water feature options, they weren’t sure what route to take. They looked at a bubbling stone at a local rock yard. Then, they were referred to Good Earth Water Gardens.

We discussed the many options available. The homeowners then decided on our Hyacinth pond package.

It includes a 6’ x 8’ ecosystem pond with a 45 mil EPDM rubber pond liner, tiered levels, and a waterfall at the pond edge. They also added an optional stream. This design was a great fit for their yard. While the water feature wouldn’t totally block out the road noise, it would definitely give visitors a peaceful sound to focus on instead.

Pond installation

We installed this pond late last fall. Then the homeowners, who are avid DIYers, had the joy of planting around and inside the pond this spring. They also selected koi fish to make their water feature complete.

The homeowners are pleased with the beauty and relaxing sounds of their waterfall. So pleased that they now want us to expand the pond! Luckily, the design of our water features makes expansion easy now and in the future.
