Every water feature we create is unique. But some have special significance.

Recently, Good Earth Water Gardens was fortunate to install three pondless waterfalls at Deanna Rose Children’s Homestead. We were delighted to contribute to this beloved Kansas City institution.

Deanna Rose Children’s Homestead

Kids of all ages love this Overland Park attraction. Designed like a frontier farm, the homestead features more than 250 animals and birds. Visitors can also explore a Native American encampment, a one-room schoolhouse, and a turn-of-the-century main street.

Generations of Kansas City kids have bottle fed baby goats, milked cows, and ridden horse-drawn wagons at Deanna Rose. It’s a fun environment, and it’s enjoyed many expansions over the last year. One of those improvements was removing a concrete pond that was leaking and not well-filtered. In its place, the homestead wanted to install pondless waterfalls. That’s where Good Earth Water Gardens came in.

Building pondless waterfalls

To install a series of three pondless waterfalls, we partnered with our distributor REAMS Sprinkler Supply. We also worked with the facilities team at Deanna Rose and recruited many contractors from around the KC area. Why so many hands on deck? We installed the water features in just one day!

Here’s how it all went down. We worked together to construct the large reservoir chamber. After that was complete, we set a game plan and split into three teams. Each team was assigned a waterfall to build.

The build went smoothly – we only had one trip back to REAMS for additional plumbing components. The waterfalls were running by 2 p.m. and everything was complete by 3 p.m. The finished water features drastically transformed the space, and the team at Deanna Rose was pleased.

Our merry band of workers was a diverse team. Some of the contractors had lots of familiarity with water features. But for others, this was their first water feature and a great opportunity to learn. It was a great experience for everyone.

The pondless waterfalls today

Now, the waterfalls are landscaped and look incredible. This summer, thousands of visitors are enjoying the sights and sounds of this magnificent water feature. If you’re looking for a fun family activity, Deanna Rose Children’s Homestead is a great option.

Your space doesn’t have to be a beloved KC institution. And it doesn’t have to be transformed in a day. Whatever your project or timeline, Good Earth Water Gardens can help. We’re happy to give advice and help you create your dream outdoor environment. Give us a call at 913-749-8090 or connect online today.
